Bring the whole family including the puppy

They deserve to have fun too!

Accommodation that ticks all the right boxes

With hotel grade beds, a unique setting next to Spelga Dam and all the comforts you want when away from home, our choice of 2 houses are both designed to give you peace and quiet (and peace of mind). It’s all here for you and your family to enjoy.

  • Fenced gardens so your dog is safe
  • The Mourne area is incredibly dog friendly with many restaurants and cafes that allow dogs
  • A separate utility room where your pet can sleep in comfort (Spelga house only)
  • The great outdoors – mountain walks on your doorstep and countless adventures and activities in the area

“We have 2 dogs of our own and it can make holidays more expensive as we often have to put them in kennels. We’ve always preferred to take our dogs with us as they really are part of our family, and we want you to enjoy your dogs in the Mournes too.”

Great walks and beaches for dog lovers

Our favourite activities

(that won’t break the bank)

Castlewellan Forest Park

Castlewellan Forest Park has a great selection of trails. A fantastic place to spend a whole day whether it be walking for miles or a short dander supplemented with a cuppa!

Kilbroney Forest Park

The popular walk to the Cloughmore Stone is a lovely 5 mile circuit, through the forest at the start but opens up to stunning views over the Lough.

Climb the highest mountain in Northern Ireland. On a clear day the Isle of Man, Wicklow, Donegal, Wales and Scotland can be seen.

My favourite dog walk

Cloughmore trail via Fiddler’s green

“I used to walk this trail every summer with my family when I was younger and now I still love seeing the variety of wildlife throughout the year. ”

We visited Spelga House and thought the accommodation was fantastic. It was big, clean & very comfortable. The location was really unique and it was great being so close to the Dam. I’d highly recommend staying here with friends or family. We also did the Land Rover Adventure tour up Pigeon Mountain and had a ball. Edward was a great tour guide. You won’t be disappointed. Great fun!

No one wanted to leave! We will definitely be back and I would highly recommend anyone to stay here, it’s perfect! Thanks, Kathryn for having us.
